Privacy Policy
Effective July 6, 2026
The short version: Pairbox collects nothing. No servers, no accounts, no analytics, no tracking. Your pairing codes live on your devices and in your own iCloud, where we could not read them even if we wanted to.
Who we are
Pairbox is made by Sai Koneru, an independent developer in the Netherlands. For anything in this policy, write to hello@getpairbox.com.
What Pairbox stores, and where
Everything you put into Pairbox stays under your control:
- Pairing codes, device details, photos, and notes are stored on your device and, if iCloud is enabled, in your personal iCloud private database. That database belongs to your Apple Account. We operate no servers and have no ability to access it.
- Sync happens entirely through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit). Apple's own privacy terms govern that transport.
- Nothing is ever sent to us or to any third party. The app contains no third-party code, no analytics SDK, and makes no network requests of its own.
Permissions the app asks for, and why
- Camera: to scan Matter and HomeKit pairing stickers, and optionally to photograph them. Images stay in your vault.
- Photo library: only when you choose a photo to import a code from. Pairbox reads the photos you pick, nothing else.
- HomeKit: to read your accessory names, rooms, and models so your vault can be pre-filled. Apple does not let any app read pairing codes from HomeKit; you capture those yourself. HomeKit data never leaves your device except through your own iCloud sync.
- NFC: to write a code you already own onto a tag you provide.
- Face ID / Touch ID: to lock the app, if you enable App Lock. Biometrics are handled by the system; Pairbox only receives "unlocked" or "not unlocked."
Every permission is requested just in time, only when you use the feature, and the app works if you decline.
Purchases
Pairbox Pro is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Apple. We receive no payment details and no identity. Receipt validation happens on your device.
What we would have to disclose, if there were anything
There is no data to sell, share, or hand over. Pairbox's App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected", and this page is the long form of the same sentence.
Children
Pairbox does not knowingly collect anything from anyone, children included, because it does not collect anything at all.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will appear at this address with a new effective date. Since the app's architecture makes collection impossible without a redesign, meaningful changes are unlikely.
